Himalayan Balsam-1947 Colored Engraving
This antique color engraving has lovely Purple/Rose colored flowers. The print comes from the book Wild Flowers in Britain by Geoffrey Grigson which was first published in 1944. This is the Fourth Impression dated 1947 and printed in Great Britain by Clarke & Sherwell LTD. Northhampton on Mellotex Book Paper made by Tullis Russell & Co. LTD. Markinch, Scotland. The book was part of a series called Britain in Pictures.
This plate is Himalayan Balsam, taken from a drawing by Miss Drake from Lindley’s book, Botanical Register, 1840. The print is professionally matted in an 8” x 10” deep rose colored matte to setoff the beauty of the image.
Keep in mind, an antique print will never be “mint” like a new print and there are sometimes tiny occasional spots and/or discoloring or aging. However, we will not sell anything that we would not be proud to hang on our own walls!!!
