Forget-Me-Not Family - 1947
This antique color engraving has a lovely mixture of vibrant colors. The print comes from the book Wild Flowers in Britain by Geoffrey Grigson which was first published in 1944. This is the Fourth Impression dated 1947 and printed in Great Britain by Clarke & Sherwell LTD. Northhampton on Mellotex Book Paper made by Tullis Russell & Co. LTD. Markinch, Scotland. The book was part of a series called Britain in Pictures.
This plate is a Grouping of the Forget-Me-Not Family featuring Evergreen Alkanet, Tuberous-Rooted Comfrey, Lungwort, Jacob’s Ladder, Borage, Gromwell, Houndstongue, and Bugloss. It is taken from a colored engraving from London’s, British Wild Flowers, 1846. The print is professionally matted in an 8” x 10” pale blue colored matte to setoff the beauty of the image.
Keep in mind, an antique print will never be “mint” like a new print and there are sometimes tiny occasional spots and/or discoloring or aging. However, we will not sell anything that we would not be proud to hang on our own walls!!!
