Peacock's Best Sardines
SKU #: MLB1017
This very scarce sardine label, Peacock’s Best, is from the 1930s or 1940s. It features a full peacock on a green and gold label. The sardines were packed in peanut oil flavored with spice oils by R. J. Peacock Canning Company of Lubec, Maine. Lubec succeeded Eastport as the sardine canning capitol of the United States. It has a population of 1,655 and the town name Lubec comes from the German town of the same name. There are no longer any sardine factories in Lubec, but RJ Peacock Canning Company is still standing, and that is now where they produce sea salt, farm urchins, and pickle sea cucumbers.
We have mounted the label on a cream background and surrounded it with a black matte. The finished size is 5” x 7” and ready to mount in a standard frame.
Discounted Price: $6.50
