Langtry Balm
This beautiful label features an early 1900s woman with colorful pastel colors. The label is circa 1910s – 1920s and measures 3.25” High x 2” Wide. Dr. Lynas began manufacturing remedies in his home in the middle 1800s after a successful medical career. In 1874 he established a laboratory and in 1898 he officially setup J.B. Lynas & Son. By 1913 the company had 1500 employees in Logansport, Indiana. This was used for a face preparation like powder, but, as the label says, “This is not a powder, does not contain powder, but is far superior to face powders”. Of coarse on another part of the label it says to “use a dry towel or piece of linen to take up surplus powder”. Who as I to understand women’s makup.
