Congola Limonade Label
SKU #: ULB1055

This is a very unique label from Belgium measuring 4.25” Wide x 3.15” Tall. It depicts Black natives drinking with wild abandon. Which doesn’t seem to go with the “it’s a Ste. Godelieve drink.” Ste Godelieve refers to the Saint who was a peaceful sweet woman and has a very unusual story. She was killed in the courtyard (strangled) of a French nobleman for not succumbing to the wiles of her suitor. During the murder blood was splattered over her, so the perpetrators threw her in a well to clean off the blood to help avoid detection of their murder. Later a young blind girl drank water from the well and her eyesight was restored. Since then, a pilgrimage meets annually, for the faithful who believe the water is able to cure the ills of eyes and throat. Women who are abused by their husbands also invoke Saint Godelieve.

The label is from M. Herman of Heule, Belgium.
