The label dates back to 1935 and has an image of a typical “Family of Four.” This was the newer label and it stressed that it was made from “Carefully Selected Radiant Ray Roasted Peanuts”. The label went on an 8 oz. jar and measures 1.75" Wide x 2.37” High in near mint condition.

Dr. Seaborn Anderson Roddenbery started his medicine practice in 1862 in a horse-drawn buggy. In the same year he purchased a farm and sold open kettle sugar cane syrup from his medical buggy as he made his rounds. By 1867 he had an office and a general store that sold syrup from large cypress barrels, and people would bring their own jars and fill them with his cane syrup. Within five more years he had acquired 1000 acres and started to reduce his medicine practice, since he claimed 90% of his patients didn’t pay him. In 1889 Roddenbery marketed the first pure Georgia cane syrup as "Roddenbery's Old Plantation Molasses." Around 1920 the business became known as the W. B. Roddenbery Company. It was 1934 when the company expanded their product line to include peanut butter in 1936 they added pickles.

They continued expanding their products adding boiled peanuts, watermelons, and even cigars under a variety of labels. By 1986, the company was producing 45 kinds of pickles, 12 types of syrups, 4 varieties of peanut butter, and millions of boiled peanuts. In 1993 Dallas-based Dean Foods purchased the W. R. Although this might seem unusual it was because Vincent Caggiano came to America at the age of 16 to work on a New Jersey farm. After diligently saving his money, Vincent started growing peaches on his own farm in 1914. The business grew and in 1943, three of his sons started the farm in Gaffney, South Carolina. The farm in Gaffney grew to 2,500 acres, but that changed in the 1990s when the family decided to close the South Carolina farm and sell the property. The final land holdings were sold in 2007. The property in New Jersey is still going strong and has grown to over 1,000 acres. Today Sunny Slope still operates in New Jersey and is run by Vincent’s son, Al, and his kids. The company is still family owned and they maintain the original tradition of growing peaches that are "just a little bit better".

This Sunny Farms peaches label dates back to the 1960s and measures 9” Wide x 7.5” High. Legend says that he was trying to recreate a root tea he had on his honeymoon, but nobody knows for sure. Initially he created a powered tea, known as Hires Herb Tea, that was bagged and produced five gallons of drink. Soon after, he developed a carbonated version that became a non-alcoholic “root beer”. In 1884 he began distributing his drink in dispensers called “Hires Munimaker” that simultaneously mixed and dispensed the syrup and carbonated water. You get two (2) embossed and gilded cigar bands from the 1920s which read "Rudolph Valentino Quality Cigar". His untimely death probably explains why these labels were never used and they have become difficult to find.

Rudolph Valentino arrived in New York City in 1913, as an 18-year-old immigrant from Italy, without speaking a word of English. He could only land jobs like gardening and dishwashing. His good looks came to his rescue when he became a dancer in New York nightclubs and was, in fact, a gigolo for lonely society women. He was led ultimately to Hollywood where he sarted his film career. Post-war women went crazy for his dark, mysterious looks, and the wanton way the sheik treated the heroine, both in sharp contrast to the "boy next door" films of the time. He was idolized by the female fans of the 1920's like Elvis was in the 1950’s. At public appearances, fans mobbed him and Valentino was receiving about 10,000 fan letters per week.

Valentino's last film, and one of his best, was Son of the Sheik. While on a promotional tour, he collapsed at a party in New York with appendicitis and a ruptured ulcer. One week later he died of blood poisoning. When his female fans got word of his impending death, the hospital received 2000 calls per hour. One week later on August 23, 1926 Valentino died of peritonitis from a perforated ulcer at the age of 31. The nation was in shock and there were riots at the funeral home, as fans charged past police to see the body. Allegedly, upon news of his death, some women actually committed suicide.

Valentino left behind a mountain of debt and his estate had to be sold at auction. He did leave a lasting legacy of creating a new type of romantic hero, paving the way for Clark Gable, Errol Flynn and all those who came after him.

WE GUARANTEE ALL LABELS TO BE AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED!

$1.75
